Get To Know The Rider: DB Team Rider Adrien Raza

By Brian • Feature • 16 Sep 2011

Editors Notes: Adrien Raza has been a main force of progression in the Dutch scene for several years now and is shaping up to be a force to be noticed in the flatland game. This was most evident in his recent video edit, where he dropped tech trick after tech trick after tech trick. We hope to see Adrien make the trip out West to come skim within the near future. -Brian K.

1) Full Name: Adrien Raza

2) Hometown:  Paris

3) Age on Birth Certificate: 3rd April 1995

4) Sponsors: DB Skimboards, Brayn Child Skimbags

5) Stomping Grounds: Zevenhuize all day!

6) Places you’ve traveled for skim: Germany, Belgium, France and all over Holland.

7) Favorite Comp to compete in: Boot show in Dusseldorf.

8)Plans for flatland skimboaring in 2011: The season is nearly over here but i will try to get some new tricks, win the Dutch Skim Tour for both flat and wave and make some dope videos.

9) Other boardsports that influence your skimboarding: Snowboarding and Skateboarding for sure

10) Favorite rider and why: Luke Dirks because he is my main skim bro. He also kind of rips!

11) Hottest girl on a skimboard: Lexi and Lisa.

12) What advice do you give to young riders who are trying to get sponsored: Skim hard. Make videos and attend all contests in your area. Try winning or placing at the contests.
Don’t worry too much about sponsorships though.

13) Hobbies outside of skimboarding: Skateboarding, longboarding and football

14) Who’s style influence’s you the most and why: Issac Thomas, ever trick he does is with so much speed and control and his 1 foots are mad. I try doing the same.

15) If you could travel anywhere to skim, where would it be and why? Thats got to be the northwest. I would love to skim those beautiful tidal pools and meet all the skimmers there. In Holland the scene is still very small so i guess it’s exciting for me to go to a beach with many flatlanders.

16) What do you think you can do to help push flatland skimboarding to the next level: Keep posting videos so that people outside the skim world can see what its all about and stoke them up to start. Start landing tricks that I never thought of doing before, keep pushing myself. I plan on starting to organize a contest and a skim school.

17) Favorite trick: 3 shuvs of cource.

18) Regular of Goofy: Regular but working on those switch tricks.

19) How have you seen the Holland skim scene change over the last few seasons: There are a lot more comps with legit rails and organization. 4 years ago you could win a contest by landing a sketchy 3 shuv off a 30 cm ramp. The level has gotten a lot higher than the years before and is increasing rapidly. There are also lots of new riders which will be representin’ in a few years. More and more crews and teams are being formed.
20) Are you working on any new tricks: Yes, many. (Thanks for being informative, Adrien! – Brian)

21) What do you want to accomplish with flatland skimboarding: Get better and get people in the sport

22) Where do you see yourself in 5 years: Hopefully done with my studies and looking for work. And for skimboarding we will see, I’ll still be skimming for sure!

23) What would you like to see changed in the flatland skimboarding community: I don’t really know how the flatland scene is like, here we have a small scene full of love and peace. Just a bit more people would be nice. From what i read on internet the scene in America seems just fine. Too many people are complaining and debating on how the scene should change. Just be grateful to have multiple companies, media networks, many riders and loads of comps. So what i would like to see is less drama about how skimboarding is going the wrong direction.
