Is it just us, or are the guys over in Germany pushing it this year? We’re only through the first month of 2012 and already we’ve seen the guys over at InlandSkimGermany throw the best indoor skim jam (to date), add that to two, well editing videos dropped by German groms Friedrich Fluh and Daniel Prieb = keeping the neighborhood stoked.

InlandSkimGermany Presents: Boot Düsseldorf 2012

For the second year in a row, the guys at ISG put on the best indoor skim jam the industry has seen. Exposing the sport to countless people by holding the event at one of the countries biggest trade shows; Boot Dusseldorf.

We were happy to see another great turnout of both riders and spectators.

Congratulations go out to DB Skimboards Team Rider Adrien Raza for taking home 1st place for the 2nd year in a row, as well as, Friedrich Fluh and Benjamin Nagel for their 2nd and 3rd place finishes.

It’s been a while since we’ve been able to post anything on the website.

Brent and has been having computer troubles and I recently moved and do not have internet connection set-up yet.

Yet, somewhere in between working 2 jobs, going to school and trying to balance a (on and off) girlfriend; I have found time to devote to finally finishing ItemNumberNine. We are currently 30minutes into the video and are hoping to have it completed and ready for viewing just in time for Christmas.

Be on the look out for interviews, screen shots and excerpts from the video as we approach the release date in the coming weeks.

This week also marks a special birthday for the crew here in Sacramento. Flatland godfather, Lon Porteus, hits the 40 year milestone.

We just want to thank Lon for everything he has done, and continues to do for the sport. Tomorrow night we will be celebrating at a club in downtown Sacramento, if you know how we celebrate, please pray(if you’re into that type of thing) for our well being.

The final week of crunch time before the date stumbles upon us.

This year, ISM took an even larger roll with the contest, assisting contest organizer Matt Matteucci with much of the brut work, along with much of the binge drinking that goes every so seemingly with the event.

This years Sacramento Skimfest was by far one of if not THE most fun skim event I have attended. An estimated (estimate by a kid’s dad from the top of the hill) of over 350 spectators in the crowd and DJ SuperHumanYouth rocking bangers all day kept the upbeat vibes going all day.

The intermediate division was stacked as always, this year even maybe more so than others. Hometown riders Tim Davis, Alex Larivee and Nate along with SandyCrack skimboards team rider Cordell made the final round a tough one for the judges, but in the end it was birthday boy Tim Davis taking home the 1st place victory with Cordell and Nate following in that order.

Getting the courage to ride in the advanced/pro division is one thing in itself; throwing yourself out there and going for the win is a whole different story.

2011 Sacramento Skimfest marks the 15th time that a rider would gain bragging rights in the flatland skim community by winning the most prestige event the sport has to offer. Issac Thomas, Tony Sadler and Blake Zimmerman made the treck from Washington and along with fellow team rider Adam Ballam were holding it down for DB Skimboards in the final round. Trying to hold off what would be a skimfest first, a DB Skimboards team sweep, were Kyda Team Riders Kyle Lynch and Tim Ladner along with Brent Lippincott and Matt Matteucci rounding out the finals.

After many bangers and many more bails, it came down to a group decision that Adam, Tim, Issac and Blake would partake in a “overtime” final round, with each rider given 1 run at each of the 4 set-ups.

In the end it would be the young gun, DB Skimboards team rider, Adam Ballam taking the 1st $600 victory and keeping the Skimfest Crown in Sacramento. Completing the DB sweep, Blake Zimmerman and Issac Thomas took the 2nd and 3rd place titles back to Washington.

All in all it was an awesome event and great turn out. Thanks to everyone who competed, showed up, helped out and so on. We look forward to next year.

12) What advice do you give to young riders who are trying to get sponsored: Skim hard. Make videos and attend all contests in your area. Try winning or placing at the contests.
Don’t worry too much about sponsorships though.

13) Hobbies outside of skimboarding: Skateboarding, longboarding and football

14) Who’s style influence’s you the most and why: Issac Thomas, ever trick he does is with so much speed and control and his 1 foots are mad. I try doing the same.

15) If you could travel anywhere to skim, where would it be and why? Thats got to be the northwest. I would love to skim those beautiful tidal pools and meet all the skimmers there. In Holland the scene is still very small so i guess it’s exciting for me to go to a beach with many flatlanders.

16) What do you think you can do to help push flatland skimboarding to the next level: Keep posting videos so that people outside the skim world can see what its all about and stoke them up to start. Start landing tricks that I never thought of doing before, keep pushing myself. I plan on starting to organize a contest and a skim school.

17) Favorite trick: 3 shuvs of cource.

18) Regular of Goofy: Regular but working on those switch tricks.

19) How have you seen the Holland skim scene change over the last few seasons: There are a lot more comps with legit rails and organization. 4 years ago you could win a contest by landing a sketchy 3 shuv off a 30 cm ramp. The level has gotten a lot higher than the years before and is increasing rapidly. There are also lots of new riders which will be representin’ in a few years. More and more crews and teams are being formed.

21) What do you want to accomplish with flatland skimboarding: Get better and get people in the sport

22) Where do you see yourself in 5 years: Hopefully done with my studies and looking for work. And for skimboarding we will see, I’ll still be skimming for sure!

23) What would you like to see changed in the flatland skimboarding community: I don’t really know how the flatland scene is like, here we have a small scene full of love and peace. Just a bit more people would be nice. From what i read on internet the scene in America seems just fine. Too many people are complaining and debating on how the scene should change. Just be grateful to have multiple companies, media networks, many riders and loads of comps. So what i would like to see is less drama about how skimboarding is going the wrong direction.

The skimming aspect starts at 1minute and stretches all the way to 5minutes. The whole 4minute skim section is filled with TONS of bangers for your enjoyment.

The 3-shuv on revert out of the flat box as well as the pop-shuv grab on and the numerous shuv on shuv off combos caught our attention. And who doesn’t enjoy some good cliff jumping?
